Calm & breath

Five-finger breathing

When feelings run high, the breath is the fastest way back to calm. This one gives restless hands and minds something gentle to follow.

How to do it

  1. Spread one hand. With the other index finger, trace up the thumb as you breathe in.
  2. Trace down the other side as you breathe out.
  3. Continue up and down each finger, one slow breath per side.
  4. When you reach the last finger, notice how much calmer you feel.

A few tips

  • Do it together — calm is contagious, and so is your steadiness.
Peace is only a few breaths away, and it’s always available to you.
