Disinfecting a sickroom
You don’t need to scrub everything. Focus on the surfaces hands touch most, and you’ll stop the majority of germs.
High-touch first
- Wipe doorknobs, light switches, remotes, phones, bed rails, and handles daily.
- Use a disinfectant that says “kills viruses,” and let surfaces stay wet for the time on the label.
- Wash hands well before and after care, and keep sanitizer by the door.
- Open a window for fresh air when weather allows.
A few tips
- Keep one set of cleaning cloths just for the sickroom, and wash them hot.
When to get help
- Never mix bleach with ammonia or other cleaners, and keep the room ventilated while disinfecting.
A clean, bright room helps a body heal and a spirit lift. Small effort, real protection.
